TOMB RAIDER Barbie Unveiled Ahead of March Film Premiere
Yesterday, retail giant, Mattel revealed the newest Barbie to be none other than the iconic adventurer, Lara Croft, at the New York Toy Fair.
Fans of the Tomb Raider franchise can now get their hands on the collectible before the film starring Alicia Vikander premieres on March 16, 2018. According to IGN, the presale started today on Barbie.com, and collectors can purchase the doll for $29.99. Lara comes with an array of accessories including a map, axe, journal, stand, and a Certificate of Authenticity.
The look of the doll is based on Vikander's portrayal of Lara and her origin story get-up, like in the 2013 game reboot. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vikander commented that in this portrayal of Lara, "we've stripped away all of her experience. She hasn't gone on an adventure just yet...this is the beginning."
Vikander is best known for her Award-winning role in The Danish Girl, and stars alongside Dominic West (The Wire) as Lord Richard Croft, and one of the most underrated villains, Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight).
The Tomb Raider film premieres Marc 16, 2018.
